The Memoir Project

The Remember Us Memoir Project engages students in carrying on the legacy of memory through reading and reflection on Holocaust Survivor narratives from the LAMOTH memoir collection. The program has grown to students at Loyola Marymount University, Pepperdine University and Occidental College. As part of their class curriculum, each student chooses one memoir, partners with the student with the corresponding memoir, and engages in deep reads and close analysis of the texts, producing both reflections and collaborative letters to the authors. The course culminates with a closing event in the tranquil space of the Goldrich Family Foundation Children's Memorial where the student partners visit the Museum to present their stewardship letters and reflections to Museum staff, fellow classmates, and the Survivor authors who wrote these inspiring texts. Seed funding for the Memoir Project was generously provided by LAMOTH Board member and Holocaust Survivor David Wiener.
